Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter. Ansel Adams.

Paisajes con fauna - Landscapes with wildlife

Ciervo común, Wapiti, (Cervus elaphus), Grand Teton NP, Wyoming, USA

I've always liked landscape photography the most, but wildlife photography is definitely gaining points.

It's out of question that being able to have both in a single frame adds a special value to landscape photography, since you get see wildlife in direct connection with its environment.

Bisonte americano, American bison, (Bison bison), Yellowstone NP, Wyoming, USA

It's a photography type that I have barely worked so far, so I can only show a few images. I will emphasize it more in my future work.

With this type of photography, instead of highlighting the natural aspect of what we have in front us, I want to focus on shapes, different lights, brightness, textures, colors, shadows, reflections and everything else that is part of a natural space, but takes a quieter role and is embedded in what we normally turn our eyes to as a whole.

I am sure we all agree that everything is composed of multiple little details. These are what I want to highlight when exploring this kind of photography.

Fotografía Creativa - Creative Photography I

With this tittle I am referring to Nature Creative Photography, understood as an innovative, maybe daring, sometimes abstract way of reflecting the nature we have in front of us, that makes it impossible to identify the photographed object.

I would like to focus on things that after zooming in and isolating them, seem to disfigure reality when they are actually part of it.

At the end of the series that show this way of understanding nature´s observation, I include another photograph of the landscape of which I obtained that apparent non-reality.

Prairie dogs (Cynomys) are small mammals, relatives of marmots, that can be seen across the prairies of North America, in the USA, Mexico and parts of Canada.

They are chubby, have short legs and are great diggers, since they live in underground galleries. They group together forming colonies and multiple colonies create "cities", where thousands of these animals can live under a certain social organization.

Using the soil extracted to build the underground galleries, they create small mounds on the prairie, from where they watch for possible hazards. They make their typical barks (there are a few different ones) to warn the other prairie dogs of the situation.

Milano negro - Black Kite

For the last couple of years, the arrival of black kites (Milvus migrans) has become a little bit of a challenge for me, because of my wish of photographing these spectacular birds, great gliders and whose wingspan can reach 1.80 meters.

They reach the Iberian Peninsula between March and May from Africa where they spend the winter, and stay up until the end of August. During this time they go through their breeding season.

So while thousands of these birds get ready to go back to Africa, here are some of the images I took. They could be better, so the challenge is still on.

Dead Horse Point State Park

This natural spot located near Moab, in the state of Utah, USA, is an elevated mesa accessible through the road to Canyolands N.P.'s Island in the Sky entrance.

From here you can see magnificient landscapes of Canyolands and other surrounding lands, uncountable canyons and mesas, as well as the Colorado River that appears and disappears, sunken in between multiple red sandstone elevations.

It is a very special place any time of the day, but if we look for the moments in the day when the sun is closer to the horizon, the lights, shadows, colors, shapes and textures create a labyrinth full of magic than invades everything in front of our eyes.

This kind of photography has always attracted me in a very particular way. Whenever I see images from experts on this field, they always evoke admiration and excitement.

However, except for one brief isolated attempt last summer and a second one a few days ego, I have never really dedicated much time to learn the technique nor I have tried to seek the creativity it offers.

I hope the low quality of the photos included in this entry and the pressure I feel for not being able to make them better immediately, push me enough to tray and improve my night photography.

Yellow Water, KAKADU N.P. I

It may be the most famous of all the wetlands in Kakadu and it is part of the South Alligator river floodplain.

Its trees and plants, the quiet and relaxing lagoons, the wonderful sunset and sunrise light on the water are an amazing show, but the main attraction of Yellow Water is the wildlife.

Just to name a few of the most striking species: freshwater and estuary crocodiles, birds like brolgas, egrets, jabirus, white bellied see eagles, herons, kingfishers, jacanas... An incomparable list.
