Milano negro - Black Kite

Desde hace un par de años la llegada de los milanos negros (Milvus migrans) se ha convertido en un pequeño reto para mi, por el deseo de fotografiar a estas espectaculares aves, grandes planeadoras, cuya envergadura puede alcanzar 1,80 ms.
For the last couple of years, the arrival of black kites (Milvus migrans) has become a little bit of a challenge for me, because of my wish of photographing these spectacular birds, great gliders and whose wingspan can reach 1.80 meters.

Llegan a la península Ibérica entre Marzo y Mayo procedentes de África donde pasan el invierno y permanecen aquí hasta finales de Agosto. Durante este periodo se desarrolla su fase reproductora.
They reach the Iberian Peninsula between March and May from Africa where they spend the winter, and stay up until the end of August. During this time they go through their breeding season.

Aprovecho estos días en que miles de estas aves estarán preparando su retorno, para mostrar algunas de las fotos conseguidas. Son mejorables...... El reto tiene que continuar.
So while thousands of these birds get ready to go back to Africa, here are some of the images I took. They could be better, so the challenge is still on.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Este espacio natural ubicado cerca de Moab, en el estado de Utah, USA, es una elevada "mesa" situada un poco antes de la entrada a Canyolands N.P. por la zona denominada Island in the Sky.

This natural spot located near Moab, in the state of Utah, USA, is an elevated mesa accessible through the road to Canyolands N.P.'s Island in the Sky entrance.

 

Desde esta posición se observan bellísimos paisajes de Canyolands y otras tierras circundantes, innumerables cañones y mesas, así como el río Colorado que aparece y desaparece hundido entre las múltiples elevaciones de arenisca roja.

From here you can see magnificient landscapes of Canyolands and other surrounding lands, uncountable canyons and mesas, as well as the Colorado River that appears and disappears, sunken in between multiple red sandstone elevations.

 

En cualquier momento del día este es un lugar especial, pero si buscamos los momentos en que el sol está cerca de la línea del horizonte, las luces, las sombras, los colores, las formas y las texturas, forman un laberinto lleno de magia que inunda todo lo que tenemos delante de nosotros.

It is a very special place any time of the day, but if we look for the moments in the day when the sun is closer to the horizon, the lights, shadows, colors, shapes and textures create a labyrinth full of magic than invades everything in front of our eyes.
